Although the High School does not have a Chinese History class, it is still important for our students to be connected with their roots and culture. So from time to time we like to integrate Chinese traditions and culture into our school program. We went to the Beijing Capital Museum to learn about some local history of Beijing. In specific, we focused on the traditional courtyard houses. How did they come to be? What purpose do they serve? What is the function of the different buildings within the complex? What is the meaning behind it? It was great to see the students engaged and learning about Chinese heritage. Although they may study abroad, it is still important for students to know about where they come from.
