This month, our focus has been on improving critical thinking skills. Albert Einstein said, “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.” It is on this premise that we make sure that students not only know the facts but also understand how and why things happen. Students will encounter a variety of challenges through life; therefore, learning critical thinking skill will help to equip them with tools to succeed in any endeavor. Creativity and critical thinking skills will be the tools they will need to navigate through a myriad of challenges. Students have been given opportunity to demonstrate and practice these skills in the classroom and it is hoped that these skills will be applied in other areas of life. We will continue to sharpen these skills in our science classes because we believe that teaching students critical thinking skills is of paramount importance in their education.
