Developing Higher Order Thinking Skills

Our high school students are focusing on developing their higher order thinking skills in all their classes.  They are analyzing, summarizing, applying and thinking critically about the learning in each lesson.
In Math class the focus is on solving linear systems using elimination.  The students are being challenged to apply their learning to solve English word problems and build their English language skills even in math class!

Learning about ancient civilizations in World History class has students comparing, contrasting, and looking for similarities and differences as they relate life in ancient Mesopotamia to their current life in China.

There are many technical skills that our students will need in their Science courses here at Shuren.  We began this week to learn how to effectively use a microscope and to calculate the field of vision for a variety of samples.  This type of hands on learning definitely keeps our students engaged.
